Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be a beginner’s course near me soon?

Our aim is to offer a beginner’s course twice a year in each location, in Spring and Autumn. This isn’t always possible due to availability of volunteers or a suitable location. All courses will be advertised in our monthly newsletter and on our social media sites. Once a date and location are agreed we will publish the course on the RUN WITH US page where you can book on.

Where do you meet?

We currently meet regularly in three Suffolk locations; Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe and Ipswich. Exact locations, dates and times can be found on the RUN WITH US page.

How do I become a member?

You don’t have to be a member to run with us, you can ‘pay per session’ for each session booked. But being a member is much more cost effective! Annual membership is just £15 a year and that allows you to book on to as many regular group sessions as you want, in all locations. Head to the RUN WITH US page and scroll down to the Membership section at the bottom of the page to become a member.

How much does it cost?

  • Beginner’s Course - £27 for 6 weeks (or FREE if we have been awarded funding!)

  • Yearly Membership - £15

  • Monthly Membership - £5

  • Pay Per Session - £2.50

Where does my payment go?

Although we are 100% volunteer led, we still have all the boring admin costs associated with running a business! All income goes back into the running of things behind the scenes, paying for regular things like insurance, website fees, booking system fees, email accounts, our annual accounts etc. We also have ad-hoc costs for Run Leader kit, design and marketing, Run Leader training and such like. I Can Run is a Community Interest Company which means that any ‘profits’ are invested back into the company or used to benefit the community.

How do I book on to a group session?

You can book on via the website or using the Acuity Scheduling Client app on your smart phone. Head over to the HOW TO BOOK ON page for more info!

Can I walk?

Of course! Our group sessions are aimed at runners of all abilities, and last for 40 minutes on most occasions. But if you’re recovering from an injury, or not feeling great, and would prefer to walk then we’d still love to see you.

At ICR getting out the door and being active is what’s most important! Please just let a Run Leader know and they will walk with you - we never leave a lady on her own at the back!

What should I wear?

Running shoes and a sports bra are the only essentials really! Otherwise, wear what you feel comfy in! Layers are great, especially in the winter, as your body temperature is likely to increase as you start running and your heart rate increases. If it’s warm you may also want to bring a small bottle of water to stay hydrated.

Can I bring a dog?

No, we do not allow dogs.

Can I bring my child?

No, we do not allow children to attend. But girls* aged 14+ can book on and run with us provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

Can I volunteer?

Yes, we’re always on the lookout for more volunteers! Whether you want to become a Run Leader, or help out with some admin behind the scenes, or maybe you’re a social media guru and want to take over our Instagram and Facebook posts - whatever you have to offer we’d love to hear from you! Can I buy merch?

Yes, head over to our SHOP to see what we have available. If you’re looking for a personalised race vest or t-shirt then these are sometimes available on pre-order - keep an eye out on social media for when pre-order opens!

Can I make a donation?

Definitely! If you want to support us financially then head over to the SHOP and purchase a ‘donation’ from there - we really appreciate ALL donations, so if you’re thinking about making one THANK YOU in advance!
